At Classroom Central, we have the most amazing volunteer support system. Since we just have a small staff, we rely on our volunteers to help us achieve our mission. Our volunteer spotlights are a way of showcasing those individuals and groups. This month, we spotlight Laura Gallagher.

Name:  Laura Gallagher

Length of time as a volunteer: 3 years

Why you volunteer at Classroom Central: It is an amazing place to help out teachers and students. The teachers are a fun group to assist as are the various volunteers that help out consistently. Volunteer coordinator Risa is one of the best at her position in the area and makes each volunteer feel welcome and useful. My husband John and I have supported Classroom Central both financially and with our volunteer time.

What school supply excites you the most to see come through the doors? The backpacks are always appreciated by the students and teachers, but so are the paper packages and pencils.

What you do when you are not volunteering at Classroom Central? I volunteer elsewhere! Most of my time is spent at the Assistance League of Charlotte and the Thrift Shop on S. Tryon. They also help families and children in poverty through several programs. I have tried many opportunities through Hands on Charlotte and currently a leader for them at Classroom Central. I'm active in my church and a few other organizations in Charlotte.
