How NewDominion Bank Supports Classroom Central’s Mission
By MaryBeth Simon
Director of Marketing, NewDominion Bank
NewDominion Bank is committed to supporting students and teachers in our community and we have formed a wonderful partnership with Classroom Central over the past few years. NewDominion Bank traditionally holds a school supply drive in each of our branches as a way to engage with our teammates and clients. In 2018, we wanted our collection drive to be bigger and better, so we created some new initiatives.
Engaging our Business Clients
Often times, companies have a strong desire to give back to the community but are strapped for time and resources to execute a program. Knowing the amount of time Classroom Central puts into developing their turnkey collection drive program, we wanted to share these resources (plus a few more) with our clients to give them a way to easily host a supply drive of their own.
What we did:
Utilizing our High-Traffic and Easily Accessible Headquarters
NewDominion Bank is conveniently located in the heart of Charlotte at the Metropolitan. We were able to park VROOM right outside our office over lunch to allow for easy drop-offs of school supplies. Our teammates staffed the truck for the afternoon and collected school supplies and monetary donations from passers-by. In fact, two generous individuals donated $100 each on their way into Dressler’s Restaurant!
As a result our partnerships and the collection event, more than 16,000 school supplies were donated to Classroom Central. The collection event showcased our community involvement to our clients and engaged more people and companies in Classroom Central’s mission.
Beyond School Supplies
In addition to supporting Classroom Central’s Mission, NewDominion Bank is committed to improving the financial lives of teachers by sharing our financial service expertise and experience. From home ownership programs to financial literacy courses, NewDominion looks for ways to help teachers thrive. For more information, visit NewDominionBank.com/Teachers.
