It was a ‘souper’ day at Classroom Central last Thursday. Our staff each made a homemade soup to share with the team.
We wanted to share some love for one of Classroom Central’s friends: Two Men & A Truck. Two Men & A Truck helps out Classroom Central in a big way. And we literally mean A BIG WAY! They serve our organization by hauling all of our big items. The signature event they assist with is our Backpacks & Basics campaign, in which we deliver supply kits and backpacks to the highest-need schools in our region. This year, we covered seven schools: Montclaire Elementary, Reid Park Academy, Walter G Byers Elementary, Sterling Elementary, Ashley Park, Sedgefield Elementary and Lingerfeldt Elementary. Every single child in the school gets a supply kit, so this means over 4000 were distributed. As Classroom Central does not have a large truck for moving items, we wouldn’t be able to do this without their help. Plus, for the Backpacks & Basics program, they send two of their finest movers to help for the entire day. They have been helping Classroom Central with this initiative for over five years! We were also appreciative of their support during our Clearing Out Office Supplies for Classroom Central event in Uptown Charlotte this summer. They helped transport all bins & set-up items in the morning, and the product in the evening.Plus, they did the same set-up and tear-down for Classroom Central Field Day for which they were our Gold Medal champions. We are appreciative of all they do for us throughout the year. A bit of Charlotte sports trivia for you: The Carolina Panthers provided seed money to found Classroom Central in 2002. We are grateful for their support of our organization, which has spanned for more than a decade. And they are still continuing to help our mission in a big way: this past Monday night, the Classroom Central team was honored to participate in Panther Talk. The Carolina Panthers offered free autographs and raffle prizes to fans who came to Bank of America Stadium with a donation for Classroom Central.
At Classroom Central, we have the most amazing volunteer support system. Since we just have a staff of eleven, we rely on our volunteers to help us achieve our mission. Our volunteer spotlights are a way of showcasing those individuals and groups.
It truly takes a community to make the work that Classroom Central does possible. From our corporate donors, to our volunteers, to our supply drive superstars, we couldn’t do it without the help of dedicated individuals and companies. Many times we showcase amazing supply drives and events, but today we wanted to showcase some behind-the-scenes stardom.
